Why did the glass burst on a Volvo SUV passenger door after tinting?

Method 1: There is no reason this should happen, even in extreme temperatures, unless there was a sudden drastic change in temperature. For example, a running car in a heated garage or shop can sometimes have glass breakage if it suddenly speeds out into freezing temperatures, but even that is rare. The most likely culprit behind broken glass after a tint job is that the glass already had a small crack in it beforehand, and it was exacerbated by the film. It’s possible that the customer had the glass replaced with cheap, aftermarket panes that may have already been flawed. Once the film goes over the top of the flawed glass, it constricts its ability to expand and contract and can make it prone to breaking if it’s not completely sound. In most business situations it may be better to simply replace the glass for the customer since they won’t be able to understand what happened.
