How to remove and replace film on large plate annealed glass
Method 1: A lot of tinters will simply walk away from these jobs because of safety concerns. Once glass gets into the 80x100 range, it can be really dangerous to remove film from. It’s just not worth it. Advising that the glass be replaced completely is usually preferable to removing and replacing film. If you absolutely have to do the job, the safest way is to remove the film in scores; the narrower the safer, especially near the middle of the glass. When it comes to removing the adhesive, you may have to go over the entire window with a scrape multiple times with a large scraper, so make sure to charge accordingly.
